Today
If ever there were a spring day so perfect,
so uplifted by a warm intermittent breeze
that it made you want to throw
open all the windows in the house
and unlatch the door to the canary's cage,
indeed, rip the little door from its jamb,
a day when the cool brick paths
and the garden bursting with peonies
seemed so etched in sunlight
that you felt like taking
a hammer to the glass paperweight
on the living room end table,
releasing the inhabitants
from their snow-covered cottage
so they could walk out,
holding hands and squinting
into this larger dome of blue and white,
well, today is just that kind of day.
-Billy Collins
This is our last journal entry. I thought I would have you all reflect on the year we have waded through, and I also want us to think about tomorrow. We are always waiting for something new to come our way, we are constantly improving ourselves to one day have what we want that gives us happiness. You could say we are waiting for "that year." Listen to this song by Train and figure out what he was waiting for in his "year."
Journal Entry #30
Describe in detail, what would your "year" look like? What would have to come together for you to make it “your year?”
Reflect on how his past year has been for you, what are some important things you have learned?
HW: Reading journals for TKAMB are due Mon, 5/9. In-class journals are due tomorrow, 5/3. Make sure you are all caught up.
